This custom Texas home masterfully translates the tranquil beauty of Bali into a unique design aesthetic, fulfilling the clients' request for "Bali, in Texas." The home's interior design is rooted in a palette of natural materials, including native limestone, variegated wood, and soft, tonal colors. Each space was considered with regard to artisan touches, from the hand-carved limestone fireplace to the feature wall in the primary bath, and carved backsplash details.
The primary bath features a free-standing carved limestone wall separating the tub from vanity area with walk-in shower surrounded by lush greenery and zellige mosaics. In the great room, a vintage Oushak rug allows the rest of the color palette to unfold, with copper and muted teal accents set upon the backdrop of a bespoke, carved fireplace.
The kitchen features a carved backsplash, set upon two slabs, complete with jib-door hiding a pantry behind, and custom walnut-stained cabinetry, which enhances the quality of the kitchen. Finally, foliage was considered essential and only stood to further enhance the interiors.
Rather than relying on bold hues, the design prioritizes texture and restraint, allowing subtle details and materiality to take the lead. The result is a one-of-a-kind Texas home—a serene retreat where every bespoke element is defined by the honesty of artisan materials.
